Sometimes the people of the past could bluff some things, so another part of this so called 'research' was to also prove if what they say about dragons are right. Setiap orang punya cara sendiri untuk mencintai. Ada yang mencintai dengan suara lantang, ada yang mencintai dengan diam-diam saja, cukup dengan menunggu, meski tahu penantian itu sering kali tidak berbalas setimpal. Danil memilih cara kedua. Sejak hari ospek itu, sejak Raina duduk satu kelompok dengannya dengan senyum yang-entah kenapa-terasa seperti cahaya di pagi hari, Danil tahu, hidupnya tidak akan pernah sama lagi. Ia tidak berani banyak bicara. Ia hanya berani mengirim pesan-pesan kecil, berharap dibalas cepat, meski pada akhirnya harus terbiasa menunggu empat jam-kadang lebih-hanya untuk mendengar kabar dari orang yang ia sayangi diam-diam. Ia juga sesekali mengajak jalan, mengajak main, mengajak keluar. Tapi seperti kebanyakan cerita yang tidak direstui semesta, semua itu tidak pernah menjadi kebiasaan. Hanya sesekali. Hanya sekilas. Cukup untuk membuatnya berharap, tapi tidak cukup untuk membuatnya yakin. Sampai semester keempat tiba, dan Danil sadar, ada batas dari setiap penantian. Ia mulai dari langkah paling aman-mengirim pesan lewat akun kedua, seolah ingin menguji, sanggupkah hatinya menerima jawaban seandainya semesta berkata tidak. Setelah itu, barulah ia benar-benar berani. Dengan nama sendiri, dengan nomor sendiri, lewat WhatsApp, ia mengatakan apa yang selama ini ia simpan bertahun-tahun. Jawaban itu datang. Bukan empat jam kemudian. Lebih cepat dari itu. Seolah semesta pun tidak ingin Danil menunggu lebih lama untuk sebuah kepastian. "Maaf, aku belum mau pacaran dulu." Kalimat sederhana. Tapi cukup untuk menutup semua penantian selama ini. Karena, pada akhirnya, hidup memang begitu. Tidak semua yang kita tunggu, akan menjadi milik kita. Tidak semua yang kita cintai, akan mencintai balik dengan cara yang sama. Dan Danil, mau tidak mau, harus belajar menerima-bahwa ia dan Raina, mungkin, memang ditakdirkan sebatas teman.
